The blog for week ending the 4th July has got lost between Jaki and myself, I have therefore included some of the news
on this week’s blog.
Windsor
At the recent Windsor Championship Dog Show, Gundog
Day was Thursday and IWS were judged by Mrs B Banbury. There was an entry of 26; seven dogs and 17 bitches, unfortunately
there were 7 absent, making a total of 19 that were judged by Mrs Banbury. The Dog CC was won by the young dog Fynder
Seabiscuit of Glenderry owned by Vickie Norman-Massa, and Reserve Dog CC was Malanis Cian at Ameysford JW owned by Hazel Walker.
The Bitch CC and Best of Breed was won by Foulby Fire Opal owned by Angela Williams, David Craig and Penny Willoughby,
the Reserve Bitch CC was Sh Ch Foulby Fired Up owned by Judith Carruthers, Best Puppy was Foulby Calm Before The Storm also
owned by Angela, David and Penny
As Windsor is my nearest show I always go and watch the IWS but this year Chris
Attwood and her friend Areline came and stayed overnight and I went with them on Toy Day. We had a lovely evening having dinner
and a few drinks in the garden. Buddy had a fabulous time meeting a Chinese Crested and 2 pugs for the first time, they all
had a great time playing on the lawn, after a tremendous thunderstorm in the night. The day started of cloudy which was better
for the dogs. What a difference in entries! There were 95 dogs entered in Chinese Cresteds. Souldrop Chinese Whispers
for Doonbeg ( Mikey) at just 18 months old won the large (15) Limit Class and went on to win the Reserve CC, and Chris
was also pleased to have breed the Puppy Dog Winner, it was very interesting to watch the judging for the first time .
Last weeks blog
I am sorry that the blog did not appear last week (20th July) Don and I went
from Kitebrook on Sunday to Cirencester for a few days , we arrived home last night.
Kitebrook
On Saturday 18th July the IWSA Championship Dog Show took place at Kitebrook House by kind permission of Mrs Anne McDermott
and the Cothill Educational Trust. The weather was lovely and sunny and the show was very well attended, with many visitors
from the UK and from as far away as USA, Sweden, Denmark, Holland and Spain it was lovely to see so many “old faces
from the past, such as Rose & Denis Ryan, Nan & Pat Campbell, Lin & Paul Bradbury, Tony & Mo Whitford, Connie
Phillipson, Vibeke Sandberg and Sussane Narfstrom to name a few. I fully intended to spend the day catching up with
everybody but at just gone 9 O’clock in the morning I was asked to assist Neil Hume and steward for the day so unfortunately
I did not get round to seeing everybody.
The Judge for the show was Pepi Barrington (Fynder) and she
had 51 dogs with 63 entries - there were very few absentees on the day. The Dog CC and Reserve Best in Show was Antdela
Oleander owned by Ant Andrews, Reserve BD was Greensocks Flying Dutchman (ATC AJ00506NLD) owned by the Roeterdink’s
from Holland. The Bitch CC her first and Best in Show was won by Holbain Capercaillie owned by Pauline and Stuart Furber,
Reserve Best Bitch was Sh Ch Foulby Fired Up owned by Judith Carruthers , Best Puppy in Show was Doonbeg Leap of Faith owned
by Emer Mooney, it was lovely to see Phasian Falkus Fancy winning the Vetearn Class at a grand old age of over
twelve years old During the lunch break Chris Attwood judged the Junior Handling classes, I will give the names of the
winners next week. After the presentation of the Association’s trophies, Pep judged the fun classes and my highlight
was Robert Kong and Lola winning the best trick class, by fetching a tissue from the box of tissues when Robert sneezed.
Thank you all for buying raffle tickets, they were sold by Penny & Paul Diamond and over £300 was raised
towards the Association Funds.
Pat Wake as usual was manning the Breed Club Stand, selling lots of articles of
interest to members as well as catching up with the news from members.
Several members took part in the eye testing,
and I am pleased to say that they all passed with flying colours
After a short break nearly fifty stayed behind
to have supper which was cooked and served by Ann’s staff. Don and I sat at a table which included Arnold and Judy Hempstead
reminiscing about all the shows previously held at Kitebrook, and how old Judy was when she first showed a dog there. Arnold
and Don then went on to compare National Service Stories !! After the meal a presentation was made to Ann McDermott and her
staff for all their kindness and help during the day, this led to more interesting stories from Ann and Pepi.
The
following day, the heavens opened but we met many new members, the day started with a Gundog Working demonstration by Judy
and Sue Hempstead this was followed by A Rally organized by Marion Kong and Missy McMunn (who was over from the
States), everyone joined in and seemed to enjoy themselves, I know that there were a lot of dripping wet dogs
and owners around. The Good Citizens was in progress during the course of the day, the Judge being our own Sue McCafferty,
I will give the names of the successful winers next week. While this was taking part, Brenda Triffitt, Judith Carruthers
and Alison McNaught Ant Andrews & Adele Blades were running a grooming section in the paddock.

I would like to thank all of you who have taken the time
to give me feedback on the subject of whether you like to hear news of member’s success’s with other breeds, as
only two of the replies did not want it written in the blog, I shall be continuing to print any successes that you may send
me.
I understand that there is going to be a new Breed Note Writer for Dog World, Judith Carruthers will
taking the column over, I am sure that she will be pleased to print any news that you may send her.
