(Please Note: We have two weeks of blog this week due to a communications error - sorry - Jaki P)

Blog 17th October

At the South Wales Kennel Association Show last week-end the judge for IWS was Mrs P Butler-Holley, there was an entry of 4 and winning all the honours was Stanegate Secret Thoughts who won Best Bitch, Best Puppy and Best of Breed, she is owned by Lin and Paul Bradley it is nice to see them back in the ring with another IWS after so many years.

Last week-end was East Anglian Gundog Open Show, Ant Andrews took a break from showing to judge the breed, there were only two classes but Ant had an entry of 6, Best of Breed was Fynder Seabiscuit at Glenderry owned by Vickie Norman-Massa, RBOB Doonbeg Meant to be at Pentandra owned by Sharon Peck & Alan Spinks and BP was Stanegate Speak for Freedom owned by Lisa Walker .

Gundog Society of Wales Championship Show took place on Wednesday 14th October, we had classes but there were no CC’s on offer there was an entry of 8 with one absent on the day, and of the 7 that were present, 6 were bitches. Best Dog and Best of Breed was Antdela Oleander owned by Ant Andrews, Ollie was also short-listed for Best in Show, Best Bitch was Holbain Goosander owned by Pauline & Stuart Furber, Reserve Best Bitch was Holbian Capercaillie also owned by Pauline and Stuart, Best Puppy was Malanis Tillymint owned by Hannah Cooper, the judge was Colin Woodward.

I had an e-mail from Debbie Robinson, fifteen and a half IWS met for the walk (the half being an IWS-Cross-Munsterlander) on Putney Heath, despite a suggestion of rain in the air, it stayed dry, the minglers met for lunch at The Telegraph Pub where the dogs and owners were made very welcome . The next mingle has been arranged for Saturday 6th March 2010 at Pevensey, Kent. More details will be given nearer the date.

I had a phone call from Sandra Rawlinson, after living in a caravan for seven weeks Sandra & David are moving into their new home on Wednesday 21st October 2009 - congratulations.

I understand from Pat Wake that  Mrs P Harvey –Kelly who is one of our life members, is celebrating 50 years of involvement with IWS I am sure you will join me in congratulating her on this achievement.

At the committee meeting last Sunday,Roger Taylor, our Chairman, was unable to attend as his wife Rosemary is rather unwell at the moment. The calendar of events for 2010 was discussed and will be finalized at the beginning of November, but one date for you to put in your  diary is the AGM which will be on 28th March 2010

As you all know I have been Editor of the IWSA Year Book for the last few years, after carefull consideration  I have decided that it would be a good idea to pass the job over to somebody who hopefully will have some new ideas, and I am pleased to say that Brenda Triffitt has agreed to become the new Editor. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support during the last few years and I sure that you will continue to support Brenda.

News from Hannah Cooper of a very successful week-end last week, on Saturday  17th October at Liverpool Kennel Association Open Show she won Best AVNSC Gundog Puppy and Best ACNSC Gundog then won Puppy  Group 4 with her new puppy Malanis Tillymint.  The judge was Mr Eddie Webster.
