Bog dog Blog 29th December 2009

Welcome to the last blog of 2009, I hope you all had a good year with your dogs whether you showed them, worked them or just had fun with them.

I am sorry that some of the news is a bit late but here we go.

I had the following e-mail from Karen, Graham and Zoe Stirk  “We have lost our beloved Jasmine (Sh Ch Grakar The Dark Faerie Sh Cm.) She lost her brave fight against cancer and died on the 23rd October. In her brief show career her many wins included BP at Crufts and numerous BIS and RBIS including at the club Championship and Open shows. She was made up at 19 months and won 3CC’s and 9RCC’s and was the first IWS to claim her show certificate of merit. Jasmine was “the one” from the day she was born until the day she died, most of all we loved her for who she was a  much loved member of our family” sorry to hear this sad news.

At the recent West Torrington and DCC IWS’s were judged by Angie Biggs, unfortunately I understand that only one exhibit was present on the day and that was Lisa Walker’s Stanegate Speak for Freedom who gained BOB and BP, he then went on to be shortlisted to the last 6 in the Gundog Group and he won the Gundog Puppy Group under judge Mrs Dale.

The last Championship Dog Show of the year took place on the 12/13 December, IWS’s were judged by Sandra Marshall, there was an entry of 35 with 8 being absent on the day. Dog CC and Best of Breed was Antdela Oleander owned by Ant Andrews, this win means that Ollie is IWS Show Dog of the Year, Reserve Dog CC was Fynder Seabiscuit of Glenderry Sh Cm owned by Vickie Norman Massa, Bitch CC was Sh Ch Foulby fire Opal owned by Angela Williams, David Craig and Penny Willoughby Reserve Bitch CC was Holbain Goosander owned by Pauline and Stuart Furber, Best Puppy was Malanis Tia at Grakar owned by Karen, Graham and Zoe Stirk. Marion Long and Liberty showed their versatility, competing in an agility competition in the morning and gaining a clear round then appearing in the show ring at lunchtime, that’s what I call being keen.

I had a nice day out meeting up with friends, doing some doggy shopping and watching the judging, I came home broke and exhausted but happy,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have sent me news, without you this column would not be possible also grateful thanks to Jaki Porter who with her husband Alan has had a water spaniel for many years, Jaki is our webmaster and posts all the blogs and keeps the website up to date, although she works in the IT industry she does all of this voluntary, also many thanks to all of you who help the committee at our events

I hope you all had a good Christmas and I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Don’t forget that the closing date for adverts for the 2009 edition of the Year Book is the 7th January 2010, so please forward them to Brenda Triffitt.

There are a couple of Open Shows before the end of the year so I will let you know the results next week.

Keep the news coming

Jean
